On August 8, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov and Head of the Executive Committee of the region Sergey Demidov paid on a working visit to Alekseevsk region to inspect the harvesting campaign.
Demidov said that as of today, 612 tonnes of grain with a crop yield making 26.6 centner per hectare, including 230 hectares of winter rye, have been harvested in the region.
At the moment, as many as 51,300 tonnes of winter wheat with the total area of 16,400 hectares with the average yield of 31.4 centner per hectare have been harvested.
As of August 8, the grain harvesting has been completed for 40 per cent in the region.
Akhmetov noted that Alkeesvk, Alekseevsk and Spassk regions of the republic were seriously affected by the lack of moisture.
During the conversation, residents of the region asked Minnikhanov for assistance in resolving the issue of modernization and reconstruction of water supply systems. Local water towers and water supply networks have served about 40 years and require serious renovation.
Minnikhanov noted that at the beginning of the week, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Presidential Council for Strategic Development and National Projects, during which issues of development of rural areas, in particular, water supply systems, were also considered.
“During the meeting, I said that it is impossible to solve water supply issues in rural areas without serious investments. Of course, we will continue the regional programme "Pure Water". We allocate about 600-700 million roubles for these purposes every year, but we will discuss this issue at the federal level,” Minnikhanov concluded.
