On August 10, Tatarstan President Rustam together with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the republic flied over the fields of Zainsk region by a helicopter and inspected the course of the harvesting campaign.
The harvesting campaign started in the region on July 23. As of August 9, as many as 16,560 hectares or 44.6 per cent of the area have been threshed, producing 67,100 tonnes of grain with an average yield of about 40.5 centners per hectare.
Representatives of the Ministry emphasized that currently, Zainsk region is the leader among the other regions of the republic in thresh and yield, making 40.5 centners per hectare.
Head of Zainsk region Razif Karimov reported that about 50 per cent of the grain areas to be harvested by today evening.
Answering the President’s questions, Karimov said that the implementation of regional programmes, including the construction of rural clubs, capital repair of policlinics, schools and kindergartens is under way.
Minnikhanov appreciated the interim results of the harvesting campaign.
He also asked the leadership of the region to pay attention to the development of livestock sector. According to him, today it is important to establish small forms of management such as mini-farms, seed farms, strong personal farms. “We will support these areas,” he concluded.
