On September 14, at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the Iranian Daric Investment Group, which is one of the largest investment companies in Iran.
The Group is involved in such branches of industry as aviation, metallurgy, mining, construction, engineering, sports, education and other spheres.
Minnikhanov stressed that Tatarstan and Iran have rich historical, economic and cultural ties. Great importance is attached to expanding cooperation as part of strengthening Russian-Iranian relations, he added.
"Our republic has gain great experience in cooperation with Iran. Mutual visits of official and business delegations are arranged. The General Consulate of your country has been operating in Kazan for more than 10 years. Interaction with the Iranian provinces, with East Azerbaijan and Khorasan-Rezavi in particular, has been organized. In addition, a memorandum on trade cooperation between the governments of Tatarstan and Iran is in place,” Tatarstan President said.
According to Minnikhanov, the largest companies of Tatarstan such as KAMAZ Automaker and Tatneft Oil Company have been cooperating with Iran. The Kazan Helicopter Plant has supplied its rotary-wing helicopters to the Islamic Republic. At the same time, the volume of trade turnover between Tatarstan and Iran does not yet correspond to the available opportunities, Minnikhanov continued. "There is a certain dynamics. I think we need to work more actively. We have great potential," he stressed.
Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan and Daric Investment Group have constructive ties. In early September, the Iranian ATA Airlines, part of the Daric group, laucned air passenger operations along the Tehran-Kazan-Tehran route. Tatarstan President expressed his confidence that these flights will contribute to the expansion of tourist and business contacts.
Moreover, Daric Investment Group acquired an enterprise in Tebriz, where the KAMAZ vehicle assembly line used to operate. The plant was opened in 2007, but due to various reasons its operation was suspended. In May this year the enterprise again launched the production line. "We hope this will be a good signal for intensifying our relations," Minnikhanov added.
In his turn, Owner and Board Chairman of Daric Investment Group Mohammad Reza Zonouzi Motlag noted that Tatarstan has a rich industrial, economic and investment potential. "We are glad to introduce the largest community of industrialists and businessmen of the northwest of Iran to you. They are ready to organize cooperation with colleagues from Tatarstan in a number of areas," he said.
Commenting on air passenger operations between Tehran and Kazan, he stressed that the organization of direct flights will be the beginning of other important joint projects.
Mohammad Reza Zonuzi Motlag also confirmed the readiness of the Iranian company to cooperate with KAMAZ.
