Council on Disability Affairs under the President of the Republic of Tatarstan

The Council on Disability Affairs under the President of the Republic of Tatarstan was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan No УП–908 of December 31, 2010 on establishing the Council on Disability Affairs under the President of the Republic of Tatarstan for agreed functioning and cooperation between the state power bodies of the Republic of Tatarstan, local government bodies in the Republic of Tatarstan and other agencies and organizations pursuing the state policy in the field of social protection of the disabled in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Council is an advisory body under the President of the Republic of Tatarstan to assist in the exercise of presidential powers for agreed functioning and cooperation between the state power bodies of the Republic of Tatarstan, local government bodies in the Republic of Tatarstan and other agencies and organizations when tackling disability matters in the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Council's primary objectives include:

  • Drafting of proposals related to disability issues in the Republic of Tatarstan;
  • Drafting of proposals on improvement of federal and Tatarstan legislation for providing people with disabilities opportunities in realization of their constitutional rights equal to those of other citizens and establishing measures for state support based on the analysis and generalization of practices of realization of federal and republican legislation in this field;
  • Discussions on other issues related to disability affairs in the Republic of Tatarstan on proposal of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Chairman of the Council is Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Secretary of the Council is Ildar Badreyev, the Head of the Office of Social Protection of the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers.
